In the midst of girly high school books polluting the teen fiction, I happen to stumble upon this book with a cover of two lost children in a lush green forest. The book cover gave me a surreal feel to it and I like surrealism so I read the blurb and gave this book a try. And it is one of the best stories I read all year.
Simply, it's about two young teenagers, Allie and Nick get into a car accident and did not make it to the light. They are stuck in a realm between life and death.
This book is fantastic. It is really original and intriguing as the author fabricates his ideas of what the afterlife is like. Allie is a well written character and the book kept me turning pages finding out what happen next. It has surprising plot twists at the ending. The author did a good job.
So I have learnt that reading is not about visualization. It's about experiencing. When I read books, I always try to visualize the story. But it doesn't work for me. I just read the story. And feel. Experience.
I currently interested in The Spook's series.
TIP: If you're a guy and sick of having the teen section of books plagued with romantic and high school girly bullshit, look for male authors. Look at their names.
